FLUSHING, Mich - Ford Motor Company's F-150 Leads in V6 Sales for Light-Duty Pickup Trucks. Can you guess what portion of Ford F-150 customers who purchased a truck between the months of January and February chose the V6 engine? A whopping 57 percent! Ford has no doubt that this trend will continue for throughout the rest of the year leading to the release of the 2015 F-150. Since 2010, there has been a 600 percent increase in retail registrations of light duty pickups with V6 engines and the F-150 is responsible for 91 percent of that growth. The Ford F-150 V6 sales were also accountable for 78 percent of all light-duty truck V6 sales in 2013. 

Three different V6 engine options will be offered in the 2015 Ford F-150, which is set to go on sale later this year. The all-new F-150 will offer a new 2.7-liter EcoBoost engine, along with the 3.7-liter Ti-VCT V6 and 3.5-liter EcoBoost engines. Ford Motor Company expects the number of sales to hold, or go even higher throughout the rest of the year. The latest 2.7-liter EcoBoost will be produced at Ford's Lima, Ohio plant; the same location where the 3.7-liter Ti-VCT V6 and 3.5-liter EcoBoost engines are produced.

In 12 cities across America, consumers will get behind the wheel of some of the latest products on three awesome closed-course tracks and enjoy back-to-back drives with competitor vehicles. Last year, more than 28,000 people attended the EcoBoost Challenge and Ford hopes to see an even greater turn out this year!

Ford EcoBoost Challenge Will Amp Up the Customer Experience by having them race against the clock in a Fiesta ST and do some laps with a professional driver in the Focus ST. The 2015 Ford Mustang is in a New York State of Mind

FLUSHING, Mich - The 2015 Ford Mustang is in a New York State of Mind and headed to the top of one of the most popular New York City landmarks; the Empire State Building. In celebration of the Mustang's 50th birthday as well as its debut at the 1964 World's Far in New York, the 2015 Ford Mustang will be displayed on the observation deck of the Empire State Building. It has been 50 years since the original feat of the Mustang, so what better time for the latest pony car model to get another bird's eye view of the city?

On April 16-17th, the all-new 2015 Ford Mustang will be 86 stories high on the observation deck of the Empire State Building. As you can imagine, taking the Mustang to such heights is no easier today than it was 50 years ago. There is no portable crane tall enough to reach 86 stories and helicopter delivery is impossible with the spire around the deck. So, the Mustang must take the elevator. Computer engineering data has allowed Ford engineers to once again slice the Mustang into three pieces that fit inside of the elevator. Once all of the pieces of the car reach the top, technicians will have about six hours to fully assemble the iconic pony car. 

The 2015 Ford Mustang will be in a New York State of Mind from April 16-17th. Visitors to the Empire State Building observation deck can see the Mustang from 8am to 2pm. Ford to Install GE WattStation™ Charging Stations

FLUSHING, Mich. — This month, Ford plans to Install GE WattStation™ Charging Stations in its North American campuses with installations in all Ford facilities across the United States and Canada shortly after. Ford Motor Company and GE will supply employee vehicle charging stations nationwide, starting with facilities in and around its headquarters in Dearborn, Mich.

Ford takes its commitment to sustainability to another level by implementing fuel-efficiency into the workplace. Employees who commute up to 21 miles for work driving plug-in hybrid vehicles, such as the Fusion Energi and C-MAX Energi, will be able to drive entirely on electric power to and from work! Ford plans to have these charging stations at more than 60 of its offices, manufacturing facilities, and product development campuses. The first stops for installation will begin at Ford's southeast Michigan facilities and will reach other Ford locations across the nation throughout the year.

More than 20,000 charging stations exist today and Ford plans to Install GE WattStation™ Charging Stations to accommodate their employees by offering this commodity. Ford employees will be able to charge their vehicles for the first four hours free of charge, in hopes of encouraging charging station sharing and doubling the number of employees who charge their vehicles at work. These charging station installations will differ from others, in that the company will be able to gather information such as amount of carbon dioxide reduced and the number of hours vehicles are charging. Ford can then use this data to plan for additional station installations in the future.

Ford Fund Announces William Clay Ford Scholarships

FLUSHING, Mich - Ford Fund Announces William Clay Ford Scholarships, which are a total of $1 million in automotive design scholarships that will honor the legacy of the late William Clay Ford, former chairman of Ford Motor Company's design committee. Over the next 20 years, the Ford Fund will give five automotive design students $10,000 in scholarship money per year.

Thanks to Mr. Ford's passion, he was instrumental in developing the direction of Ford's design process. It was his creative vision that transformed the way of Ford vehicle designs. One of the greatest cars ever built, the Continental Mark II, was the work of Mr. Ford and a team of Ford engineers and designers. This scholarship is a way to recognize Mr. Ford's legacy and support the future generation of innovative automotive designers. Ford Moves 2016 F-650/F-750 Production from Mexico to Ohio

FLUSHING, Mich - On Friday, March 7th, Ford announced their decision to move 2016 F-650/F-750 production from Mexico to Ohio. Starting early next year, the medium-duty trucks will be produced at Ford's assembly plant in Avon Lake, Ohio. The company is investing $168 million in the plant to alter it for medium-duty truck production. The plant first opened in 1974 and currently produces the Ford E-Series lineup of vans and other commercial vehicles.

The E-Series cutaway vans and stripped chassis will still be built at the Ohio Assembly Plant, while the cargo and passenger van production will stop later this year. Adding the production of the 2016 F-650/F-750 medium-duty trucks to the Ohio Assembly Plant will help create more job security for the workers at the Ohio facility as well as allow Ford to utilize the expertise that they have in-house. This will give customers the ability to purchase a better product at a competitive price. And believe us when we say, consumers will not be able to wait to get their hands on the toughest, best value, work-ready medium-duty truck EVER!

After Ford Moves the 2016 F-650/F-750 Production from Mexico to Ohio early next year, we can expect to see the medium-duty trucks on sale by spring of 2015. Ford Celebrates Women Behind the All-New Mustang

FLUSHING, Mich - If you were asked to describe a Mustang, what words would you choose? Most likely something along the lines of "sporty" or "masculine", right? Well, what if we told you that some of the most important characters in the story of the Mustang were women? Go ahead, we will give you a minute to rethink your answer.

Ford Celebrates Women Behind the All-New Mustang in honor of International Women's Day, March 8, 2014, and National Women's History Month. Many fail to recognize that not only have many of the important roles in the development of the all-new 2015 Ford Mustang are filled by women, but women have been influencing the iconic pony car for the past 50 years! In fact, it was a woman who purchased the VERY first Mustang in America. Chicago schoolteacher, Gail Brown, was the first Mustang owner in the country, purchasing the vehicle on April 15, 1964 - two days before it even went on sale.

Ford Motor Company has several women holding key positions in Mustang development. How about we learn a little more about some very special ladies and what they contribute to the process...

Marcy Fisher - Vehicle Line Director
Marcy oversees every single detail of the all-new Ford Mustang from the initial planning process to the minute it hits the showroom. Along with her Mustang responsibilities, she also serves as the line director for the Ford Explorer, Taurus, Police Interceptor, Flex and Escape. She joined Ford back in 1986 and has since held a number of positions within the company. She also has been on the 100 Leading Women in the Automotive Industry list by Automotive News TWO times! Marcy is so excited to be apart of this iconic moment in Mustang history - the 50th year vehicle launch.

Michele Lubin Henney - Vehicle Integration Supervisor
When you sit behind the wheel of the 2015 Mustang and are exposed to a world-class driving experience, you have Michele to thank. Susan guides the "designed to be designed by you" process by choosing those often iconic exterior paint colors as well as the colors and materials in the Mustang's cabin. She isn't afraid to take a risk with the Mustang's design; she knows the key to success is to express performance, sportiness and power. Susan's favorite Mustang color throughout the car's history? Race Red. It is the well-known shade that exemplifies that passion, power and athleticism that Mustang lovers have always known - not to mention, what car doesn't look amazing in a fiery red shade?

Melanie Banker - U.S. Marketing Manager
Melanie has a critical role in the Ford Mustang team. She first must bring the car to customers in the marketplace and then keep track of its performance. Melanie works in both research and development of the new car along with taking part in the consumer marketing process. When making vehicle decisions, Banker much recognize how men and women use their cars and what features are most beneficial to each type of customer group. Melanie loves the dedication of the Ford team as well as their continuous focus on Mustang lovers and fans.

The Tripled Demand for All-Wheel-Drive Vehicles

FLUSHING, Mich - When people are in the market for an all-wheel-drive vehicle, many immediately think of a large SUV or pickup truck as their only option. Not any more! The strong demand helped the Ford Escape and Fusion reach record retail market shares in the Northeast last year, raising each of the vehicle's retail shares in their segments by up to 2 percent.

Ford Motor Company's February Sales Update

FLUSHING, Mich - Ford Motor Company's February Sales Update has some exceptionally good news! The Ford F-Series sold a total of 55,882 vehicles throughout the month. This is the best February sales that the company has seen in eight years! Ironically, Ford's U.S. total sales are down 6 percent from a year ago. With that aside, the F-Series and Lincoln brand vehicles were able to hang tough and had the strongest gains in the month of February.

In the final week of February, sales rapidly picked up after a slow start to the month, according to John Felice - Ford Vice President, U.S. marketing, sales and service. The Ford Fusion continued its strong retail sales performance throughout the month in the Western part of the country. Fleet sales were off 10 percent in in February - most of this due to winter weather delaying a portion of fleet orders. It is anticipated that volumes will be made up for in the month of March. 

Ford Motor Company's February Sales Update contains very little surprise with the winter weather the country has had over the past few months. It is suspected once spring is on the radar that all decreased sales and volumes will get right back to where they used to be - or better!
