2 Millionth Production Ford EcoBoost Engine

2 Millionth Production Ford EcoBoost Engine

FLUSHING, Mich.- As consumer demand for outstanding performance and fuel economy in an engine increases worldwide, Ford Motor Company is meeting those needs and hitting milestones! Today Ford celebrates the production of the two millionth EcoBoost Engine since the engine line’s launch in 2009!

In conjunction with Ford hitting this manufacturing milestone, the automaker is also celebrating the increased demand for EcoBoost-powered vehicles in major markets, which is driving production. Just one year ago in 2012, factory output of EcoBoost engines averaged 65,000 per month. But now, factory output averages more than 100,000 engines per month!

It’s no surprise that drivers are attracted to the EcoBoost engine line. Combining a smaller overall size with turbocharging, direct injection, and variable valve timing, the engine provides drivers with outstanding performance and up to 20% better fuel economy than larger-displacement gasoline engines.

The 2 millionth production Ford EcoBoost engine was a 2.0-liter unit under the hood of a new Ford Escape. But you can enjoy EcoBoost performance and fuel efficiency, in one of the engine’s five models (1.0-liter three-cylinder, 1.5-liter, 1.6-liter, 2.0-liter four cylinder, and 3.5-liter V6 engine) offered on approximately 80% of the automaker’s global nameplates!
