FLUSHING, Mich - April Showers Bring May Flowers and Increased Ford Sales this year as the Ford Fusion, Escape and Lincoln MKZ saw huge improvements in their May sales! Over the course of the month Ford sales totaled 254,084 vehicles, up 3 percent, and retail sales reached 174,889 vehicles sold, a 6 percent increase. The Ford Fusion and Escape had the best May sales that Ford has seen in ten years! The Fusion sold 33,881 vehicles, an all-time monthly record, a big thanks to the West region of the United States and their increased interest in the Fusion. The Explorer has impacted the midsize utility segment and sold 20,346 vehicles -the best sales since 2005. Ford Escape sales were 31,896 vehicles sold, the Escape's personal best. Lincoln saw a nice 21 percent increase in total sales for the month of May. The MKZ did extremely well, breaking last year's record with 3,714 total vehicles sold. Even though the month was ending, Lincoln did not stop there. The all-new MKC sold 677 vehicles alone in the last weekend of May!

Best March Retail Sales Ford Has Seen in Eight Years

FLUSHING, Mich - When Ford Motor Company totaled up last month's numbers, vehicle sales were up 3 percent with 244,167 sold and retail sales up 3 percent at 166,030 vehicles sold, making for the Best March Retail Sales Ford Has Seen in Eight Years. The strongest point of sales were mid-month and continued throughout the end of March. Ford's F-Series, Fusion and Lincoln MKZ all had a particularly good month, each setting a sales goal within their respective segments! The Ford Fusion just happen to set an all-time record with a 22 percent sales increase thanks to the expansion of retail sales in the West. March's Fusion sales of 32,963 vehicles set an all-time monthly record since the vehicle made its debut back in 2005. 


The F-Series contributed to the Best March Retail Sales Ford Has Seen in Eight Years by exceeding the 70,000-vehicle sales goal with a total of 70,940 trucks sold. Over the last seven years, there have been only four instances which the F-Series has surpassed the monthly 70,000 truck mark. Last month was the highest March sales volume since 2008. Ford's Lincoln MKZ set a personal all-time sales record with 4,052 vehicles sold - a 72 percent increase. With such a strong performance from the MKZ this March, Lincoln has had their sixth straight month of sales growth! Throughout the past six months, Lincoln has seen an overall sales increase of 27 percent with 43,445 vehicles sold!

Ford Motor Company's February Sales Update

FLUSHING, Mich - Ford Motor Company's February Sales Update has some exceptionally good news! The Ford F-Series sold a total of 55,882 vehicles throughout the month. This is the best February sales that the company has seen in eight years! Ironically, Ford's U.S. total sales are down 6 percent from a year ago. With that aside, the F-Series and Lincoln brand vehicles were able to hang tough and had the strongest gains in the month of February.

In the final week of February, sales rapidly picked up after a slow start to the month, according to John Felice - Ford Vice President, U.S. marketing, sales and service. The Ford Fusion continued its strong retail sales performance throughout the month in the Western part of the country. Fleet sales were off 10 percent in in February - most of this due to winter weather delaying a portion of fleet orders. It is anticipated that volumes will be made up for in the month of March. 

Ford Motor Company's February Sales Update contains very little surprise with the winter weather the country has had over the past few months. It is suspected once spring is on the radar that all decreased sales and volumes will get right back to where they used to be - or better!

2014 Ford Focus ST Spy Shots

FLUSHING, Mich.- We recently reported on the new Ford Fiesta ST, and soon another updated model will be joining the Ford Special Vehicles Team! A few 2014 Ford Focus ST spy shots have hit the web after the prototype was spotted performance testing at the Nurgurgring in Germany! According to the photos, it appears the 2014 model will receive a slight facelift.

The latest 2014 Ford Focus ST spy shots lead us to believe the vehicle will receive a slight makeover that will bring it up to date with the new Ford Fiesta and Fusion. The most notable changes appear to be an updated grille, resembling that of the Fusion and Fiesta, as well as tweaked headlights. However, both the front and rear ends are heavily camouflaged which may conceal additional changes. Though we can expect the classic ST styling to remain the same with centrally mounted twin exhausts, bigger side-skirts, larger wheels and lower ride hight.

Exact features and specifications will become known when the new Focus ST makes its debut, possibly before the end of the year! And you can make it your own when it hits showrooms in the first half of 2014!

Ford Adds Rear Inflatable Safety Belts to 2014 Fusion

FLUSHING, Mich.- The Ford Fusion is already highly awarded for its impressive suite of safety and driver assist technologies that keep drivers and passengers safe, but now the 2014 model is setting a standard in the popular midsize segment with another safety feature! Ford has added rear inflatable safety belts to the 2014 Fusion, combining the attributes of safety belts and airbags!

Dedicated to it's commitment to keep us safe, Ford Motor Company has developed this new technology  to contain airbags in the outboard rear seats. In the event of a crash, sensors can determine when the inflatable belt should deploy, which signals the safety belt's tubular airbag to quickly inflate with compressed gas. Ford adding rear inflatable safety belts to the 2014 Fusion offers additional protection for back seat passengers, which are usually children or older adults that are more vulnerable to head, neck, and chest injuries.

Even if your child is in a car seat or booster, the inflatable safety belt technology can keep your little one safe by distributing crash forces across more of the passengers torso; up to five times more than a traditional seat belt! By spreading the impact over a larger area, pressure is reduced on the chest which can help to control head and neck motion.

Originally introduced on the 2011 Explorer, the new inflatable safety belts available on the 2014 Ford Fusion are also available on the Hybrid and Energi models. While the Fusion is extremely spacious, if you know that your family vehicle needs even more space, you can also find this safety belt feature on the Explorer, Flex, and Taurus!

Ford Increases Ford Fusion Production

FLUSHING, Mich.-  The new Ford Fusion continues to be one of the quickest sellers for Ford, and the automaker has just announced that they will boost production of the vehicle in order to meet demand!

When it comes to typical turnover rates, vehicles usually spend around 50-60 days on a lot, depending on the dealership and location, but with one of the shortest turnover rates, a Fusion is typically only on a dealer's lot for an average of 10 days! Which means Ford must increase Fusion production in order to keep up with the selling pace.

An expansion of the production capacity at Ford's Flat Rock Assembly Plant will allow the automaker to increase production. This is also the same plant that will begin to use a simulated factory for new hire training, which will allow quick and efficient training for a large number of new hires, which can then get to work on the Fusion. The simulated factory training and production capacity expansion will increase production by about 10,000 vehicles per month!
