Ford Releases Footage of 2015 F-150 Testing

FLUSHING, Mich - Ford Motor Company has Released Footage of the 2015 F-150 Testing at "Bald Mountain" Gold Mine in Elko, Nevada. Bald Mountain is an open-pit, heap leach gold mine located in the Southern Ruby Mountains of northwestern Nevada. The mine is owned and operated by Barrick Gold Corporation and used to test Ford's new F-150 trucks and see if they can handle the abuse of one of their most demanding customers -the mining industry. Six Barrick Gold employees were given keys and advised by Ford to drive the F-150 trucks "like they stole it" and to "work it hard". Roughly 200,000 of the 10 million miles of testing done by Ford prior to production of the F-150 will actually be accumulated at the Barrick gold mines.

Ford Volunteers Focused on Improving Environment for Ford Accelerated Action Day

FLUSHING, Mich - Ford employees got out of the office and into the community last Thursday and Focused on Improving the Environment for Ford Accelerated Action Day. More than 500 Ford employees volunteered by planting urban vegetable gardens, installing watering systems, constructing storage sheds and landscaping the grounds of various nonprofit organizations around southeast Michigan. Last Thursday was also happened to be World Environment Day, presenting Ford employees with no better time to dedicate their efforts to improving sustainability around the community. The participating agencies shared $46,000 in Ford grants which went towards the purchasing of tools, plants and other supplies needed for the day. Below is the list of the several nonprofit partners in southeast Michigan who received up to $5,000 in grants for the projects:

Alternatives for Girls, Detroit – Built garden shed, painted and decorated child care room

Arbor Hospice, Ann Arbor – Created self-watering planting areas and prepared gardens

Boy Scouts of America, Metamora – Rebuilt yurts and dwelling structure for rustic camping

Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries, Highland Park – Installed drip irrigation system and planted urban garden

Detroit Zoo, Royal Oak – Transformed Great Apes habitat entrance into story circle

Habitat Macomb, Mt. Clemens – Constructed sheds, picnic table and paint restore

Habitat Monroe, Monroe – Landscaped three new homes

Haven, Pontiac – Removed carpet and prepared for new carpet installation

Henry Ford Estate, Dearborn – Planted native trees and installed garden benches

International Wildlife Refuge, Grosse Ile – Built accessible overlook deck

Liberty Hill Housing Corp., Detroit and Westland – Landscaped and cleaned up yards

Penrickton Center for Blind Children, Taylor – Rehab privacy fence and play equipment

Starfish Family Services, Inkster – Host year end celebration for students and families

St. Vincent de Paul, Detroit – Installed bookcases and slat walls at thrift store

Vista Maria, Dearborn Heights – Planted trees and landscaped campus

Ford Volunteers also Focused on Improving the Environment for Ford Accelerated Action Day by teaming up with Ford Green IT to collect unused computers, printers and other electronic equipment to be recycled. Around 63,000 pounds of e-waste were kept out of landfills thanks to last year's collections. We are looking forward to hearing the total for this year!

Ford Motor Company Fund Sending WWII Vets to D.C.

FLUSHING, Mich - Ford Motor Company has been supporting veterans for more than 90 years, dating back to when Henry Ford led a cross-country caravan of 50 Ford Model T's that would transport disabled veterans to their convention.  Since 1974, Ford Motor Company and Ford Motor Company Fund has donated more than $8 million to veteran organizations. One of the most significant is the Honor Flights, which allows Ford Motor Company Fund to send WWII Veterans to Washington D.C.  For the upcoming Honor Flight, Ford Fund is covering the cost of the trip for 50 WWII vets from Cleveland and other areas of Ohio. This is the third flight they have sponsored this year and the ninth since 2011!

Ford Motor Company Fund Sending WWII Vets to D.C.  creates an incredible opportunity for eighty to ninety-year-old World War II veterans. This trip of a lifetime will allow them to visit members of Congress, Ford employees and of course, the World War II Memorial. Site seeing will continue when the vets visit the other memorials dedicated to the Korean War, Vietnam War, Iwo Jima and the Tomb of the Unknown Solider in the Arlington National Cemetery.

Ford's European Sales and Market Share Up in April

FLUSHING, Mich - Ford's European Sales and Market Share are up in April, making this the 11th straight month of year-over-year sales improvement as well as the fifth month of market share gains. Ford sold 99,700 vehicles throughout the month of April in its European 20** main markets, a 6,200 increase from April of 2013. Ford had an overall sales improvement of 6.6 percent, outpacing Europe's total industry growth of 4.2 percent and increasing their marketing share by 0.2 of a percentage to 7.9 percent.

Ford's European Sales and Market Share going up in April are results of Ford's fresh line of products. Ford was able to come out on top thanks to their latest vehicle lineup and is still focusing on selling to retail and fleet customers -which are the healthiest for the brand and resale values. The Fiesta remained Ford's best-selling car in April with 29,000 sold and the Ford Ranger had its best April sales since its debut in 1999.Ford's largest European market by sales volume, the United Kingdom, had an 11.6 percent increase in the month of April. The UK's sales played a massive role in Ford's lead within the market. Germany, Ford's second-largest European market, made the same numbers as April 2013. Germany did however increase its year-to-date sales volume by 16 percent.

**Effective January 2014, Ford of Europe reports its sales for the 20 European main markets where it is represented through National Sales Companies. Previously, Ford referenced 19 countries. Romania has been added as the 20th market. Ford of Europe also has introduced a market share for the total of the 50 European markets within which it operates.

Best March Retail Sales Ford Has Seen in Eight Years

FLUSHING, Mich - When Ford Motor Company totaled up last month's numbers, vehicle sales were up 3 percent with 244,167 sold and retail sales up 3 percent at 166,030 vehicles sold, making for the Best March Retail Sales Ford Has Seen in Eight Years. The strongest point of sales were mid-month and continued throughout the end of March. Ford's F-Series, Fusion and Lincoln MKZ all had a particularly good month, each setting a sales goal within their respective segments! The Ford Fusion just happen to set an all-time record with a 22 percent sales increase thanks to the expansion of retail sales in the West. March's Fusion sales of 32,963 vehicles set an all-time monthly record since the vehicle made its debut back in 2005. 


The F-Series contributed to the Best March Retail Sales Ford Has Seen in Eight Years by exceeding the 70,000-vehicle sales goal with a total of 70,940 trucks sold. Over the last seven years, there have been only four instances which the F-Series has surpassed the monthly 70,000 truck mark. Last month was the highest March sales volume since 2008. Ford's Lincoln MKZ set a personal all-time sales record with 4,052 vehicles sold - a 72 percent increase. With such a strong performance from the MKZ this March, Lincoln has had their sixth straight month of sales growth! Throughout the past six months, Lincoln has seen an overall sales increase of 27 percent with 43,445 vehicles sold!
