Ford Releases Footage of 2015 F-150 Testing

FLUSHING, Mich - Ford Motor Company has Released Footage of the 2015 F-150 Testing at "Bald Mountain" Gold Mine in Elko, Nevada. Bald Mountain is an open-pit, heap leach gold mine located in the Southern Ruby Mountains of northwestern Nevada. The mine is owned and operated by Barrick Gold Corporation and used to test Ford's new F-150 trucks and see if they can handle the abuse of one of their most demanding customers -the mining industry. Six Barrick Gold employees were given keys and advised by Ford to drive the F-150 trucks "like they stole it" and to "work it hard". Roughly 200,000 of the 10 million miles of testing done by Ford prior to production of the F-150 will actually be accumulated at the Barrick gold mines.

Ford Sells 500,000th F-150 with EcoBoost Engine

Ford Sells 500,000th F-150 With EcoBoost Engine
FLUSHING, Mich - Another milestone is met for America's 37-year truck leader as Ford Sells the 500,000th F-150 with the EcoBoost Engine. The 3.5-liter V6 EcoBoost® engine debuted just three years ago and since has grow more and more popular among F-150 customers. As fuel-efficiency has become a vehicle necessity, Ford took it upon themselves to create a vehicle that is fuel efficient, while still highly capable and helps customers in getting the job done - a "total package" so to speak. Customer demand for the F-150 with the EcoBoost engine has skyrocketed and we can see why! Over the last 38 months, F-150 EcoBoost owners together have saved roughly 56.8 million gallons of gas on an annual basis. Those savings are equivalent to 70,000 homes going without electricity for a year or 6,685 tanker trucks' worth of gasoline! That is incredible, just incredible!

As we said, the Ford F-150 is without a doubt the total package for truck customers looking to save fuel, without feeling they need to compromise their truck's power and capability. The numbers tend to agree; over the last three years, retail registrations of light-duty pickups with V6 engines grew more than 600 percent. F-150s are accountable for a hefty 91 percent of this growth! Can you imagine the increase of that percentage once the 2015 Ford F-150 with the 2.7-liter EcoBoost engine and standard Auto Stat-Stop hits the showrooms? Is it safe to say that as Ford continues to take the F-150 to the next level, we are sure that the sale of the 500,000th F-150 with the EcoBoost Engine won't be the last!

If you're looking for a fuel-efficient vehicle of your own, stop by and see us at Delehanty Ford! We are here to help you find the perfect vehicle to meet all of your driving needs. All-New Ford F-150 is the Toughest, Smartest, Most Capable F-150 Ever

All-New Ford F-150 is the Toughest, Smartest, Most Capable F-150 Ever
FLUSHING, Mich - With today's introduction of the all-new Ford F-150, it is sure to be the toughest, smartest, and most capable F-150 ever. America's favorite truck is continuing to set the bar higher and higher for future trucks.

Ford's impressive combination of power, capability, and efficiency that the F-150 features is from the advanced materials that improve durability and inhibit corrosion, the faster processors that enhance driving performance, and breakthrough cargo management and towing solutions.

The F-150 redefines the future of trucks, serving customers with a commitment to the very best quality, fuel efficiency, safety, smart design, and value. Ford engineers amped up the truck's signature fully boxed ladder frame. With more high-strength steel and aluminum alloys, the F-150 is stronger, lighter, and has improved dent and ding resistance. Up to 700 pounds of weight were saved, allowing the F-150 to tow more, haul more, accelerate more rapidly, stop shorter, and have better overall efficiency.
As the strongest and most durable F-150 of all time, it will be torture tested before going on sale by enduring over 10 million miles of challenging conditions. Pulling heavy trailers and enduring 20 degrees below zero to 120 degree Fahrenheit temperatures are just a few of the obstacles the F-150 will have to face. A disguised all-new F-150 recently raced in the Baja 1000, where it completed all 883 grueling miles where some other purpose-built race vehicles could not.

Numerous new productivity features are debuting on the all-new F-150. A 360-degree camera view will use exterior cameras to create a bird's-eye view of the truck. This will allow the driver park, maneuver in tight sports and navigate down narrow roads. LED headlamps and tail lamps will improve nighttime visibility and the trailer hitch assist will help customers line up truck and trailer without a spotter or having to get out of the vehicle.

The F-150 offers segment-first technologies to assist the driver more than ever. Second-row inflatable safety belts include a tubular airbag that inflates in the event of a crash, which distributes the force of impact across a wider area of the passenger's chest. The Lane-Keeping System alerts the driver if unintentional drifting outside the intended driving lane occurs. Auto Start-Stop technology saves fuel by shutting off the engine when the vehicle is stopped, except from when towing or in four-wheel drive. Within milliseconds, the engine restarts when the brake is released.

The all-new toughest, smartest, most capable Ford F-150 ever will be on sale late this year and will offer the broadest selection of trim levels in the full-size pickup segment. The Ford F-150 will once again establish new standards for pickup tucks.

The F-150 Trade In: Aluminum for Steel

FLUSHING, Mich- Ford is taking one of the biggest gambles in its history. The F-150 Trade In: Aluminum for Steel will bring a mass of manufacturing challenges as well as the additional convincing to pickup fanatics that aluminum is as durable as steel.
The F-150 Trade In: Aluminum for Steel
By switching aluminum out with steel, it will cut the F-150's weight by about 700 pounds. This 15 percent reduction would allow Ford trucks to go further on a gallon of gasoline. This will also open door to other changes, such as smaller engines, that will boost fuel economy. Accompanied by the addition to aluminum, the F-150 will be given a more muscular look.

With the new fuel-economy regulations, the U.S. vehicle fleet is required to average 54.5 miles per gallon by 2025. Requirements increase fuel economy goals for vehicles of different sizes each year. Ford's new truck is being created to come out this year and will be capable of hitting the increasing fuel economy standards through 2020. On average the F-150 four-wheel drive with the 3.5-liter V6 engine gets 17 miles per gallon combined city and highway mileage.

The F-series is one of the most popular and profitable motor-vehicle lines in the world. Using aluminum would require many changes throughout the manufacturing process, however, Ford appointed Peter Reyes to lead the F-series program. Mr. Reyes led the development of the new midsize sedan and the update of the Super Duty versions of the F-series trucks. He believes by reducing 10% of the vehicle weight results in a 7% increase in fuel economy.

The F-150 Trade In: Aluminum for Steel is risky, with the F-series being such a key product in Ford's success. However, Ford is confident considering they are already the leader in aluminum use in full-size pickups.
