Ford to Install GE WattStation™ Charging Stations

FLUSHING, Mich. — This month, Ford plans to Install GE WattStation™ Charging Stations in its North American campuses with installations in all Ford facilities across the United States and Canada shortly after. Ford Motor Company and GE will supply employee vehicle charging stations nationwide, starting with facilities in and around its headquarters in Dearborn, Mich.

Ford takes its commitment to sustainability to another level by implementing fuel-efficiency into the workplace. Employees who commute up to 21 miles for work driving plug-in hybrid vehicles, such as the Fusion Energi and C-MAX Energi, will be able to drive entirely on electric power to and from work! Ford plans to have these charging stations at more than 60 of its offices, manufacturing facilities, and product development campuses. The first stops for installation will begin at Ford's southeast Michigan facilities and will reach other Ford locations across the nation throughout the year.

More than 20,000 charging stations exist today and Ford plans to Install GE WattStation™ Charging Stations to accommodate their employees by offering this commodity. Ford employees will be able to charge their vehicles for the first four hours free of charge, in hopes of encouraging charging station sharing and doubling the number of employees who charge their vehicles at work. These charging station installations will differ from others, in that the company will be able to gather information such as amount of carbon dioxide reduced and the number of hours vehicles are charging. Ford can then use this data to plan for additional station installations in the future.
