While there is no specific type of person that gets behind the wheel of a F-150, it is typically the vehicle of choice for contractors and other professions that use the truck as part of their job. To make sure that the interior of the truck is as hard working as the people that drive it, Ford has employed heavier-set men to test the durability of the F-150's leather-wrapped truck seats. These men dress in their dirtiest jeans for the period of 10 days and are paid to climb into the driver's seat, get down, and climb up again around 10,000 times per truck.
After this unique form of testing, Ford designers were able to improve upon the leather seating to make it more durable. The 2015 Ford F-150's seats will now be made of higher-strength steel and tougher leather that weigh a combined 30 pounds less than the current seats - this makes the improved seats able to withstand even the beefiest, grimiest of drivers!
While Ford tortures the 2015 Ford F-150 with the help of beefy men, we'll be counting down the days until the vehicle is available on our lot - sometime at the end of this year.
