Ford Police Sedan Named Most Fuel-Efficient Police Vehicle in U.S.

With these EPA-estimated ratings, Ford has calculated that this vehicle, when driven 30,000 mile per year and with gas staying at around $3.21 a gallon, the Special Service Police package has the potential to save agencies approximately $1,720 over three years. When you take this savings and times it by 150 (for police agencies with fleets as large as 150 vehicles) you get a savings of $257,940 over the course of three years!

Ford's newest model is a special service police vehicle that combines the durability of Ford's Police Interceptor Sedan with the fuel efficiency of the EcoBoost engine. Designed to meet the needs of law enforcement with fuel-efficiency and lower operating costs in mind, this Special Service Police package comes with a 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine.

Ford Launches Fuel Saving Police Interceptor

FLUSHING, Mich.- While Ford Motor Company's Police Interceptor has already received praise from law enforcement officials, police departments are going to love it even more when it starts saving them money! How is it going to do that? Ford has launched a fuel saving Police Interceptor that is powered by a 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine!

Not only is Ford helping police departments save on fuel costs with the new non-pursuit special service police sedan, but the sedan will also be the first law enforcement vehicle to achieve 30 mpg of better! Ford's new fuel saving Police Interceptor will be powered by a 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine that produces 240 horsepower and is expected to get 32 mpg on the highway and 22 mpg in the city. Compared to the standard Crown Victoria which only achieves 14 mpg in the city and 21 mpg on the highway, upgrading to the new special service sedan could save the department $5,000 over the course of 3 years with gasoline priced at $3.65 and the officer driving 30,000 miles per year!

What about the power that officers need while out on the job? Officers that need a pursuit-rated vehicle will rely on the other more powerful Fords. But those who do not, like detectives, administrators, campus police, and some law enforcement agencies, will be able to replace their older V8-equipped vehicles with a more efficient model.

Ford Motor Company's Police Interceptor sedans are now available with four powertrain options to meet each officer's specific needs: the 3.5-liter V-6 with front-wheel drive, 3.7-liter V-6 with all-wheel drive, the new 2.0-liter V-6 and the 3.5-liter V-6 EcoBoost engine with all-wheel drive.
