2014 Ford F-150 Will Offer Compressed Natural Gas Capability

2014 Ford F-150 Will Offer Compressed Natural Gas Capability

FLUSHING, Mich.- Ford Motor Company's half-ton pickup truck is undergoing some changes for 2014, and will make the automaker the only manufacturer with an available compressed natural gas-capable half-ton pickup! The 2014 Ford F-150 will offer compressed natural gas capability!

Available this fall, the 2014 Ford F-150 equipped with a 3.7-liter V6 engine will be available with a factory-installed, gaseous-fuel prep package that will allow the vehicle to operate on either natural gas or gasoline, using separate fuel systems. The CNG/LPG package will allow the F-150 to be capable of achieving more than 750 miles per tank of gas, depending on the fuel tank size.

Before a customer selects a Ford Qualified Vehicle Modifier, CNG/LPG engine prep from the factory will cost about $315. From there, upfits will cost approximately $7,500-$9,500 depending on the size of the fuel tank.

However, the benefits of CNG conversions far outweigh the costs of installation since users could start to see payback on their investment in as little at 24-36 months! CNG conversions allow for lower vehicle operating costs, and provide stability for fluctuating fuel prices since compressed natural gas only costs about $2.11 per gallon of gasoline equivalent on average! In some parts of the country, it's priced as low as $1, while the national average for unleaded regular fuel is $3.66 per gallon.

Over the next year, the 2014 Ford F-150 will offer compressed natural gas capability, joining seven other commercial vehicle with gaseous-prep options! For more information, discover Delehanty Ford. We're located at 1510 E. Pierson Road, Flushing, MI 48433. Feel free to give us a call at (810) 659-5688 with any questions you may have. Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 Production Ending

Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 Production Ending

FLUSHING, Mich.-We're all looking forward to the 2015 Ford Mustang to make its debut, but we've just received word that one of the current Mustangs is in its last model year! It has been officially confirmed that the 2014 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 will be the last model year of the vehicle. Orders for the GT350 will be taken through the end of the year, but production of the vehicle will stop after the 2014 model.

Shelby American has decided to end production of the Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 in order to ensure the vehicles stay limited and valuable since one of the biggest appeals of purchasing a Shelby GT350 is that it is a limited production vehicle that is extremely valuable and collectible.

First debuted on January 27, 1965 in Riverside, CA, the release of the Shelby GT350 was a historic moment in automobile history. The GT350 marked the first time that a bigger engine was put into a small, lightweight car.

Since then, the Shelby Ford Mustang GT350 has come a long way, and is considered to have the most powerful production V8 engine on earth. With a 5.8L DOHC 32-valve V8 engine, it can produce 662 hp and 631 lb.-ft. of torque.

Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 production will be ending after this year, but there's still time to get one of these collectible cars. Whether you're interested in ordering your very own Shelby GT350, or a different Ford Mustang model, discover Delehanty Ford. We're located at 1510 E. Ford Interceptor 'Surveillance Mode' For Police

Ford Interceptor 'Surveillance Mode' For Police

FLUSHING, Mich.- While our country's police force work to keep us safe and protect us from crime day in and day out, they could use some backup of their own every once in a while, and the new Ford Interceptor 'Surveillance Mode' for police is doing just that! The latest safety technology is a new kind of protection for police officers that is being tested on the new Ford Police Interceptor! The breakthrough technology, which is the first of its kind, will work to keep police safe while on the job.

Ford Motor Company's new 'Surveillance Mode' safety technology will alert police officers in the event someone approaches their vehicle from behind. Should someone approach the vehicle from behind, the system detect the person and automatically sound an alert, lock the doors, and roll up the windows. Officers can also see what is going on behind the vehicle with the projected backup camera image on the rearview mirror.

While backup cameras and sensors generally only work when the car is in reverse, Ford's new technology works even when the vehicle is parked, detecting activity behind the vehicle with the rear sensors. As you probably guessed the system works during both the day and night, however it can be turned off in high traffic areas where there are a lot of pedestrians.
“It’s like insurance. You hope you never need it. But if you do, it gives the officer a few extra seconds of warning,” says Marc Ellison, vice president of operations at InterMotive Inc., the company which helped Ford develop the system.
The new Ford Interceptor 'Surveillance Mode' For Police is currently only available on the automaker's Interceptor. But, Ford's passenger vehicle's also employ countless safety features to keep you and your family safe every day. Stop by Delehanty Ford to see how a new Ford can keep you and your family safe. Ford F-150 Hybrid Truck On Sale By 2020

Ford F-150 Hybrid Truck On Sale By 2020

FLUSHING, Mich.- A while back, the word on the street was that Ford Motor Company and Toyota were working together to develop a new rear-wheel-drive hybrid system. However, Ford has now confirmed that the two automakers will not be working together and will be moving forward with their own programs. Already working on an eco-friendly version of its most popular model, the automaker is aiming to have a Ford F-150 Hybrid Truck On Sale By 2020!

Experiencing the best hybrid sales ever this year, Ford's global product chief says the company plans to leverage their in-house knowledge on building world class hybrids to develop the new hybrid truck. And as fleet fuel economy standards climb towards 54.5 mpg in 2025, Ford is working towards developing hybrid versions of the F-150 and additional full size SUV's that will hit the market by the end of this decade.

While the details of Ford's new hybrid system have not been released, a reduction in the weight of the automaker's full-size trucks will play a major role. It has been stated that the automaker is aiming to cut up to 700 pounds from the truck before the next generation debuts in 2014 at the Detroit Auto Show.

If you're interested in saving on fuel but don't want to wait until the Ford F-150 Hybrid Truck goes on sale in 2020, come check out Ford's current offerings at Delehanty Ford! Ford Motor Company Hiring 3,000 Salaried Workers

Ford Motor Company Hiring 3,000 Salaried Workers

FLUSHING, Mich.- Ford is putting Michigan to work again! The automaker has been experiencing aggressive global growth and in order to meet the surging demand for its products, Ford is implementing the largest salaried hiring initiative since 2000! Ford Motor Company is hiring 3,000 salaried workers, which is a 36% increase from the company's original projection of 2,200 additional salaried jobs!

The great thing about Ford Motor Company hiring 3,000 salaried workers is that a majority of the jobs are new. And with 85-90% of those jobs located in Michigan, this is great news for our state! Of the 3,000 new salaried jobs, the automaker estimates that about 80%, or 2,400, will be technical professionals to meet demand for new skills in product development, manufacturing, quality, purchasing, and information technology.

Ford's huge hiring initiative this year is part of the automaker's goal to create 12,000 hourly jobs in the United States by 2015! If you're interested in joining the team, you can learn more about open salaried positions Ford's hiring process at www.careers.ford.com.

Vehicle Warning Light Explanations

Vehicle Warning Light Explanations

FLUSHING, Mich. - We all know that owning a vehicle comes with the responsibility of taking care of said vehicle. However, we've all been there when one of those less than desirable warning lights pops up on your dashboard. If you were left wondering what to do next, this post is just for you. Keep these basic Vehicle Warning Light Explanations in mind so you know what to do next time!

Service Engine Light
If your Service Engine light illuminates, it usually means that your vehicle needs maintenance soon. This is definitely not the most severe vehicle warning light, but it should not be ignored since you may be over due for an oil change or service. When you visit your local service center, they will reset the light for you.

Battery Light
If you're ever driving and your Battery Light turns on, there's the possibility that your electrical system has malfunctioned. Which means that you should NOT continue driving since an electrical system malfunction can cause your engine to give out.

Check Engine Light
Don't immediately panic if your vehicle's Check Engine light illuminates since there are a number of reasons that can cause this to happen. To solve the problem, you will either need to either visit your local service center for them to read the fault code, or purchase an OBD2 diagnostic tool that will allow you to read the fault code yourself, and from there you can better solve the issue. While the problem can be as simple as not tightening your gas cap enough, it can also be a more serious problem so do not hesitate to have your vehicle checked out.

Oil Warning Light
Your vehicle's Oil Warning light should be taken much more seriously since it indicates that your oil pressure is low and should be addressed as soon as possible. Ignoring this warning light could potentially ruin your engine, so don’t wait!

Coolant Warning Light
Addressing your vehicle's Coolant Warning light should be done so with caution. It is likely that you need to add a pre-mixed store bought coolant to your radiator, but it is important to ALWAYS wait for the engine to cool before you open the radiator cap! Opening the cap before the engine has cooled, can cause you to be sprayed with boiling hot coolant.

Brake Warning Lights
Less straightforward than the other vehicle warning lights, your Brake! light will require you to check your manual for the exact problem since there isn’t a universal meaning for this symbol in each car. However, the “ABS” light (on ABS-equipped vehicles) generally means that the system has recognized an issue and you should have it checked out away. If the ABS light is blinking, even more caution should be taken as this can indicate your brakes are dead or dying.

At Delehanty Ford we want to keep you safe out on the road and help maintain your vehicle to the best of your ability. So keep these Vehicle Warning Light Explanations in mind next time you hope behind the wheel.

If you have any questions or concerns about your vehicle, come see us at Delehanty Ford, located at 1510 E. Pierson Road, Flushing, MI 48433, or give us a call at (810) 659-5688. How To Stay Safe In The Summer Heat

How To Stay Safe In The Summer Heat

FLUSHING, Mich.- We're in the middle of this summer's biggest heat wave and the temperatures continue to rise! Heat advisories are in effect and the unbearable heat can severely affect the body, especially for children and seniors. Keep yourself and your family safe with these tips for How To Stay Safe In The Summer Heat!

How To Stay Safe In The Summer Heat:
1. NEVER leave children or pets in the car. Even if you roll the windows down, interior vehicle temperatures can climb into the triple digits in just minutes. Since children and animals are more likely to suffer heat stroke when the temperatures are high, even a few minutes can be dangerous.

2. Put the air conditioning to use! Air-conditioning is the easiest way to protect against heat-related illness and death. If you're worried it will decrease your fuel efficiency, you can put your mind at ease knowing that the effect is not that significant. In fact, studies have shown that it may only reduce a vehicle's fuel economy by less than 1 mile per gallon.

3. Stay hydrated. You heard this one before, but you may not realize how quickly you can become dehydrated in the summer heat. A great starting point, especially for children, is to consume 2-4 glasses of water an hour during extreme heat.

4. Find a parking spot in the shade. Avoid getting into a vehicle right away that has been sitting in the sun since internal temperatures will have likely climbed to triple digits.

5. Loose-fitting, light colored clothing is your best option. Keeping your wardrobe light will keep you cooler since darker colored clothes absorb heat more quickly. Plus, loose-fitting clothing allows air to circulate better.

6. Run errands in the morning or at night. The hottest temperatures will occur between 10am-4pm, so if you need to run errands, you'll stay cooler earlier in the morning or later at night and avoid the dangers of being active in the hot sun.

7. Think twice. If extreme heat is in the forecast, you'll need to think twice about your daily routine and skip that afternoon run. Instead opt for indoor, air conditioned activities.

Over the next few days and throughout the rest of the summer it's important to keep in mind these tips for how to stay safe in the summer heat, and be aware of how extreme heat can be dangerous. If the A/C in your car is broke, or if you're looking for a new vehicle to keep you cool this summer, treat yourself to a test drive at Delehanty Ford, located at 1510 E. Pierson Road, Flushing, MI 48433, or give us a call at (810) 659-5688.

Ford Ranked #1 In Brand Perception

Ford Ranked #1 In Brand Perception

FLUSHING, Mich.- We've got some amazing news to share about our favorite automaker! In the customer's eyes, Ford is #1! In BrandIndex's midyear review survey, Ford Motor Company was ranked #1 based on customer's perceptions!

In the BrandIndex midyear review survey, 600,000 Americans were asked to rate 1,100 U.S. companies based on if they had heard anything good or bad about the brand in the past two weeks. When it came to rating Ford on brand perception, respondents reacted favorably, allowing the automaker to jump from 6th place in 2012 to the top spot this year!

Ford's #1 Ranking in Brand Perception can be attributed largely to the sales momentum of the new Ford Fusion and Ford Focus cars, both of which are central to the company's commitment to deliver top fuel economy across its vehicle lineup. In addition, as part of that commitment, Ford offers an industry leading seven Ford-branded vehicles that return 40 mpg or more! Not to mention, Ford has achieved the largest market share gain of any automaker in the first half of 2013, with U.S. sales up 12%. It's no wonder customer's perceptions of Ford are favorable!

If you agree with Ford's #1 ranking in BrandIndex's brand perception survey, come treat yourself to a test drive at Delehanty Ford, located at 1510 E. Auto Tips For Women

Auto Tips For Women

FLUSHING, Mich.- As a woman, you may feel a sense of worry about what may happen if you ever broke down while you are alone. While a break down in an unfamiliar area can be dangerous, you can arm yourself with a few important Auto Tips For Women to make sure you're prepared for any situation.

Auto Tips For Women
Tires
If one of your tires begins to lose air, it will usually be noticeable, so make a habit of glancing at your tires before you get in the car. If you notice a tire does look low, then add air or change the tire immediately. Don’t wait! If you're driving and your car begins to pull to the right or left, it may be an indication that you have a flat tire. In this case, safely pull off to the side of the road and asses the situation. Before taking long trips, you should always check your tires for worn spots or damage.

Overheated Car
If while driving, your car begins to overheat, immediately make sure the air conditioning is off and turn the heat on high. While it seems like you should do the opposite, this will bring the heat away from the engine. If you can't safely pull over right away, then coasting can help cool the engine. To prevent your vehicle from overheating, switch into neutral if you're idling in one spot for more than 90 seconds to take some of the pressure off of the engine. However, never remove the radiator cap when your engine is hot because it can spray coolant and cause injury.

Battery
If you ever notice a fuzzy, green substance around your vehicle's battery, do not touch it! This substance is harmful battery acid, so be sure to protect yourself with gloves and eyewear. Removing battery acid from your battery can be an easy fix, just pour some Coca Cola on the fuzz. However, if this doesn’t work the cables will need to be removed and scrubbed clean with a wire brush.

Brakes
It's important to be aware of your brakes while driving in the rain. Chances are you’re probably going to have to drive through a puddle or two, so make sure to dry them off by gently pressing the brakes after exiting the puddle. In addition, you can protect your vehicle by avoiding potholes. But, if you can’t avoid them make sure you do not apply your brakes while driving over them since this can cause damage to your suspension.

Additional Tips
If the weather is causing windy conditions and you feel your car being pushed while you drive, try rolling down your rear windows a little bit. This will allow the wind to flow through the car instead of pushing it.

If you notice an unpleasant smell in your vehicle, you can have it smelling fresh again with the use of dryer sheets. Just place them in your car, and remove them when the scent is gone.

Are you sick of your pet's hair sticking to every surface in your vehicle? Try Static Guard to keep it under control.

Lastly, ALWAYS remember to be prepared with a fully charged cell phone and keep a blanket or jacket in your trunk just in case your vehicle does brake down and you have to wait for help.

If you have any questions or concerns about your vehicle, come see us at Delehanty Ford, located at 1510 E. Pierson Road, Flushing, MI 48433, or give us a call at (810) 659-5688. Model T's Birthplace Still Alive, 110 Years Later

Model T's Birthplace Still Alive, 110 Years Later

FLUSHING, Mich.- Ford Motor Company celebrated their 110th anniversary last week, and the 150th birthday of Henry Ford will be celebrated at the end of this month! As the automaker recognizes these significant milestones, we take a look back and also recognize that the industry-changing Model T's birthplace is still alive, 100 years later!

Tracing back the roots of Ford's humble beginnings, leads to the historic Ford Piquette Plant. Located near the Milwaukee Junction rail terminal, which was beneficial for acquiring materials that allowed for quick production, the Piquette Plant first opened in 1904 with an impressive 67,000+ square feet of space.

Model T's Birthplace Still Alive, 110 Years LaterIt took just four years of experimentation with different models, before the Model T was born in 1908 at the Ford Piquette plant. At the start of production, it took workers about 12 hours to completely produce the Ford Model T. Since it took so long, at maximum production in the 67,000 square foot space, the Ford Piquette Plant was only capable of producing 100 Model T's daily.

However, as we know, when vehicle demand increased, the industry quickly responded, thanks to Henry Ford who developed and implemented the assembly line. Once production began on the assembly line, the Piquette Plant drastically increased their output, producing a new car every 12 minutes! Making its mark on history, the Ford Piquette Plant went on to produce over 15 million Model T's before the last vehicle rolled off the line in 1927.

Today, the Ford Piquette Plant has retired vehicle production, but the Model T's birthplace is still alive, 110 years later as a museum and National Historic Landmark. For those who are interested in visiting the landmark museum, the plant has since been restored to it's original state when vehicle production was in full swing.

Model T's Birthplace Still Alive, 110 Years LaterWhile we don't have any Model T's for sale, we certainly have a wide selection of both new and used Ford vehicles to meet your needs. Come see us at Delehanty Ford, located at 1510 E. Pierson Road, Flushing, MI 48433, or give us a call at (810) 659-5688. Ford Anti-Theft Technologies Prevent Car Theft

Ford Anti-Theft Technologies Prevent Car Theft

FLUSHING, Mich.- Just recently the FBI released data that showed a drastic decrease in the number of vehicles being stolen. But what could cause such a significant drop? All signs point to the new technologies that are being incorporated into vehicles, specifically, Ford's anti-theft technologies which prevent car theft.

One of the most important Ford anti-theft technology features is the automaker's SecuriCode Keyless Entry which makes things convenient for you, while also keeping you safe. Ford's SecuriCode Keyless Entry feature allows the driver to stop wasting time fumbling with keys, and instead enter a programmed 5-digit code into the driver's side keypad which then signals to the wiring system in the vehicle's engine, allowing the car to start.

While Ford's anti-theft technologies prevent car theft, there are also important precautionary measures that you should still take to prevent your vehicle from being stolen.

1. NEVER leave your keys in the vehicle's ignition. It doesn't matter if the car is in your driveway, or if you're just getting out for a second, it makes stealing your car even easier for thieves.
2. Always lock the doors. Not only does this prevent thieves from getting in, but it also activates the Ford lock security systems.
3. Always stow your valuables so they aren't in plain sight, which gives a thief even more motivation to break into your vehicle.
4. Be aware of your surroundings, and always try to park in well-lit areas where your vehicle is completely visible.
