Ford Shows Off Fleet of Customized Trucks

FLUSHING, Mich. - SEMA is officially underway and Ford is showing off a fleet of customized trucks that any automobile enthusiast would love to have in their driveway. Among the modified vehicles are:

1. The EcoTrek Ford F-350. This Ford F-350 by EcoTrek is designed for the zombie enthusiasts, or those preparing for the end of the world. This survivor vehicle will more than survive if the world were to end, with a 50 gallon fuel tank under the bed and a removable 75 gallon tank inside the bed that will allow you to keep on trucking for about 1,800 miles. Powered by a 6.7-liter V8 engine, it runs on diesel, biodiesel, or algae-based biodiesel.

Along with providing you with a great getaway vehicle, the EcoTrek Ford F-350 also doubles as a camper. It comes outfitted with solar panels that will power the stove and refrigerator found in the back of the vehicle. It also comes standard with sleeping bags, backpacks, and storage lockers. 2. Adventure Edition F-150. If you prefer to plan for the upcoming weekend as opposed to the end of the world, the Adventure Edition F-150 is the vehicle for you! Leaked 2015 Ford Mustang Specs

FLUSHING, Mich. - While Ford recently announced that they will debuting the 2015 Ford Mustang in December, pony car fans everywhere will rejoice because someone from Ford Motor Company has leaked the 2015 Ford Mustang specs.

Previously we mentioned that the 2015 Ford Mustang, although heavily camouflaged, seemed to have a front that was heavily influenced by the Evos concept and the 2014 Ford Mustang. Now however, the specs have confirmed that it is indeed smaller and a little sleeker than the previous model, but the shape comes from classic retro Mustang shapes and the recent Ford Fusion.

As for the powertrain - the part you've been waiting for - it has been confirmed that a four-cylinder model will return to the Mustang range, as a 310HP, direct-injection 2.3-liter unit. It'll be above the base six-cylinder unit but below the V8 engine. The V8 engine will produce 420HP and the V6 will put out 305HP.

Other changes to the pony car are expected, such as a weight loss of about 200 pounds; rear suspension is independent across the range; and a retro-styled interior.

While the leaked 2015 Ford Mustang specs give us a better idea of what to expect, the vehicle will still debut in December - four months before the 50th anniversary in April, as well as a couple weeks before the Detroit Auto Show in January 2014. To tie you over until then, stop by our dealership today and take a look at the 2014 Mustang. Ford and the University of Michigan Open New Battery Lab

FLUSHING, Mich. - Plans have recently been revealed that Ford and the University of Michigan will be opening a new battery lab in Ann Arbor. This new battery research and manufacturing lab is being created with the hopes that it will speed up the development of batteries for electric and hybrid cars.

This lab will be unique in the United States since the labs currently testing new batteries can't produce them in the amounts needed by Ford Motor Company for automotive research. The new battery lab will essentially allow battery markers, car companies and researchers to come together and test new batteries for prototype vehicles. This is a great move for advancing the automotive industry since battery companies won't be developing, and potentially wasting, batteries that have the potential to not even be used by the industry. Instead, everyone will be able to come together to work on and improve batteries that are already in demand.

Currently, electric and hybrid car sales make up a small percentage of yearly U.S. auto sales - this is believed to be because of the high price tag that comes with the fuel efficient/environmentally friendly vehicles.  Because the batteries in these vehicles are made of costly materials, thousands of dollars get tacked onto the price tag to make up for the production costs. As Ford and the University of Michigan open a new battery lab, the cost to make these batteries will hopefully go down as they discover new and more efficient ways to produce the electric and hybrid car batteries.

The lab, which won't start producing batteries until next year, will cost $8 million - $5 million from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, $900,000 from the University of Michigan, and $2.1 million from Ford.

FLUSHING, Mich. - October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and the Ford Warriors in Pink are 19 years strong. This program, created by Ford Motor Company, works to raise awareness and funds in the fight against breast cancer - so far they've raised $120 million!

The Ford Warriors in Pink is a clothing and gear collection created by Ford - all bearing the Warrior in Pink logo. Although the Ford Warriors in Pink is a stylish collection, it is also a great way to raise funds for the organizations fighting breast cancer, since 100 percent of the net proceeds from sales go straight to those organizations.

This year, Warriors in Pink is teaming up with actor Gilles Marini to promote a limited-edition T-shirt that Marini designed himself. This limited-edition t-shirt, titled "United with Love" will be sold for a limited time and all the money made will go to the Dr. Susan Love Research Foundation. Vehicle Warning Light Explanations

FLUSHING, Mich. - We all know that owning a vehicle comes with the responsibility of taking care of said vehicle. However, we've all been there when one of those less than desirable warning lights pops up on your dashboard. If you were left wondering what to do next, this post is just for you. Keep these basic Vehicle Warning Light Explanations in mind so you know what to do next time!

Service Engine Light
If your Service Engine light illuminates, it usually means that your vehicle needs maintenance soon. This is definitely not the most severe vehicle warning light, but it should not be ignored since you may be over due for an oil change or service. When you visit your local service center, they will reset the light for you.

Battery Light
If you're ever driving and your Battery Light turns on, there's the possibility that your electrical system has malfunctioned. Which means that you should NOT continue driving since an electrical system malfunction can cause your engine to give out.

Check Engine Light
Don't immediately panic if your vehicle's Check Engine light illuminates since there are a number of reasons that can cause this to happen. To solve the problem, you will either need to either visit your local service center for them to read the fault code, or purchase an OBD2 diagnostic tool that will allow you to read the fault code yourself, and from there you can better solve the issue. While the problem can be as simple as not tightening your gas cap enough, it can also be a more serious problem so do not hesitate to have your vehicle checked out.

Oil Warning Light
Your vehicle's Oil Warning light should be taken much more seriously since it indicates that your oil pressure is low and should be addressed as soon as possible. Ignoring this warning light could potentially ruin your engine, so don’t wait!

Coolant Warning Light
Addressing your vehicle's Coolant Warning light should be done so with caution. It is likely that you need to add a pre-mixed store bought coolant to your radiator, but it is important to ALWAYS wait for the engine to cool before you open the radiator cap! Opening the cap before the engine has cooled, can cause you to be sprayed with boiling hot coolant.

Brake Warning Lights
Less straightforward than the other vehicle warning lights, your Brake! light will require you to check your manual for the exact problem since there isn’t a universal meaning for this symbol in each car. However, the “ABS” light (on ABS-equipped vehicles) generally means that the system has recognized an issue and you should have it checked out away. If the ABS light is blinking, even more caution should be taken as this can indicate your brakes are dead or dying.
