2014 Ford Fiesta ST Review

2014 Ford Fiesta ST Review
FLUSHING, Mich. - Now that the 2014 Ford Fiesta is ready and available to Ford customers, we've decided to break down all the pros and cons to this sporty little compact with a 2014 Ford Fiesta ST review.

If you want a quick, couple word review, we'd have to say that the Fiesta ST is an affordable compact that is fuel efficient yet powerful and agile. However, if you'd like to linger over the specifics of this fantastic little car, sit back and relax while we go over the details.

The 2014 Ford Fiesta ST goes for about $21,400, which gets you a EcoBoost 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine that is paired with a six-speed manual gearbox. This engine produces 197 HP and gets you from 0-60 mph in less than 6.9 seconds - pretty impressive for such a small car!

Speaking of size, the 2014 Ford Fiesta ST is the smallest car Ford offers in the U.S., with a total weight of 2,742 lbs. However, this pint sized vehicle produces quite a punch (as described above) and also handles like a dream. Ford has designed the ST to have fantastic grip with the road so that you can manipulate the ST quickly around curves and up hills. Ford has also put a 13.6:1 steering rack between the front wheels, giving the vehicle a kind of ratio that is often found in a road racer.

The biggest pro to this vehicle is definitely the way it drives. Not many people expect the ST to handle like a more expensive sports car simply because it's not. However, Ford has designed the vehicle in such a way that when you're ripping around the corners in this little ST, you might feel like you are. One of the cons is the vehicle's size, however, it's only a con to drivers who are used to a lot of room. While the ST's interior is spacious for a compact car, it in no way compares to the cabin space of the Ford Edge. So if you're big on interior cabin space and storage, the 2014 Ford Fiesta ST might not be for you.

We hope this 2014 Ford Fiesta ST review has helped get you thinking about this fantastic little compact. We here at Delehanty Ford love this vehicle, along with the vibrant hues exclusively available to it. If you'd like to take a Ford Fiesta out for a test drive, stop by our dealership today! Continuing with this work, Ford's newest police sedan has been named the most fuel-efficient police vehicle in the U.S.!

This police sedan has an EPA-estimated rating of 30 mpg on the highway, 20 mpg in the city and 24 mpg combined! With these EPA-estimated ratings, Ford has calculated that this vehicle, when driven 30,000 mile per year and with gas staying at around $3.21 a gallon, the Special Service Police package has the potential to save agencies approximately $1,720 over three years. When you take this savings and times it by 150 (for police agencies with fleets as large as 150 vehicles) you get a savings of $257,940 over the course of three years!

Ford's newest model is a special service police vehicle that combines the durability of Ford's Police Interceptor Sedan with the fuel efficiency of the EcoBoost engine. Designed to meet the needs of law enforcement with fuel-efficiency and lower operating costs in mind, this Special Service Police package comes with a 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine.

Ford's Police Sedan has been named the most fuel-efficient police vehicle in the U.S., meaning Ford's EcoBoost technology will finally be able to benefit the people who work hard to keep the peace in our country. Tips for Smart Holiday Shopping

FLUSHING, Mich. - The holiday season has arrived which means holiday shopping is in full swing. With so many people out and about looking for a great deal, we've come up with a few tips for smart holiday shopping to help you save money.

1. Compare prices. Whether you use comparison shopping apps, websites, or good ol' fashion newspaper ads, there are numerous ways to ensure that you're getting the best deal possible. Make note of the lowest prices you find and bring proof along with you to the store when you go shopping. A lot of stores will match the lowest price that you find, just so they can keep your business within their store. So do a little research beforehand and you'll save big on products your family will love.

2. Pay no mind to "suggested retail" prices. Anything looks like a deal when they pick a random number and say that they are selling it for less than what it's supposed to be sold for. Just stick to your research and you'll do fine.

3. Keep your receipts! This goes hand in hand with the price matching in tip 1. Most stores will make a price adjustment if an item you already bought goes on sale within a certain period of time, or you find a coupon in a competing stores paper.

4. Set a limit and STICK TO IT. It can be so hard to stick to a budget when discounts and sale signs are everywhere you look. However, it's important to stick to your limit. You don't want to have to stretch your paycheck after the holiday season and cross your fingers that your bills will be paid. So calculate how much you can spend and still live comfortably after the holidays are over.

5. Make a list. By doing a little research beforehand and making a list of exactly what you want to buy and for who, you'll be able to quickly grab what you need and get out. This will also help you stay within your budget! Impulse gifts add up quickly, so make a list and enjoy the satisfaction you'll feel when you cross something off.

With these tips for smart holiday shopping in mind, you should be able to enjoy getting gifts for your loved ones and not stress about how much money you're spending.

While we love providing you with tips to shop smart this holiday season, our real expertise lies with cars. If you have any questions about auto loans, the Ford early bird lease offer, or anything else car related, don't hesitate to contact us! Ford Edge Concept is Revealed with Advanced Driving Technologies

Ford Edge Concept is Revealed with Advanced Driving Technologies
FLUSHING, Mich. - A Ford Edge Concept has been revealed with advanced driving technologies and is expected to make a full debut at the 2013 L.A. Auto Show this week.  With an updated interior and a sportier exterior, the Edge is looking good. However, the real changes can be seen with the vehicle's technology as it has been given advanced upgrades to help you and your passengers ride safely.

The first big driving technology that comes on the Ford Edge Concept is an industry-first parking assistance tool. While Ford currently offers a parking technology that helps the driver parallel park their vehicle, this parking assistance would be able to park the vehicle completely with or without the driver sitting in the vehicle. The vehicle will park itself after the driver pushes a button in the cabin or tells the vehicle to park via a remote control while standing outside.

The Ford Edge Concept will also feature an obstacle avoidance driving technology that keeps passengers and drivers safe by steering out of the way of stationary or slow-moving objects. If your vehicle senses an obstacle ahead, it will notify the driver of a possible collision. If the driver makes no move to steer away from the object, the vehicle will take control and steer safely out of the way using cameras and sensors.

Another set of technologies you will find extremely useful when driving the Ford edge are working together to improve the fuel efficiency of the crossover. Technologies such as adaptive steering, stop-start engine technology, and active grille shutters all work with your vehicle to keep it as fuel efficient as possible.

The Ford Edge Concept is revealed with advanced driving technologies - all of which we are sure work wonderfully together to make your drive as smooth and comfortable as possible. While it will most likely be until the end of 2014 until we see this concept sold as the 2015 Ford Edge, we currently have a great selection of 2013 and 2014 Ford Edges on our lot. BONUS, now is the perfect time to get behind the wheel of one of these beauties because they are eligible for the Ford Edge Early Bird Lease Offer! So stop by today and we'll help you save big on a vehicle you'll love!

Thanksgiving Day Turkey Tips

Thanksgiving Day Turkey Tips
FLUSHING, Mich. - No matter if this is your first, second, or hundredth Thanksgiving, cooking a turkey can be a difficult process. To help you through this day of being thankful, we've gathered some of the best Thanksgiving Day Turkey Tips around - you can thank us later.

1.  When it comes to thawing your turkey, plan ahead! We recommend thawing it in the refrigerator so that no harmful bacteria can grow. With your turkey in the fridge, it will take about 5 hours per pound for a turkey to fully defrost - so a 20 lb. turkey will take 4 days.

2. DON'T stuff your turkey. Not only will your turkey cook a whole lot faster if it's not packed full of stuffing, it will also be safer to consume. When you put stuffing in a moist environment (such as inside your turkey) you potentially put yourself at risk to eating harmful bacteria. Instead of stuffing, put herbs and onion, carrots or celery inside of your turkey for flavor without the side of bacteria.

3. Once the turkey is in the oven, try not to open the door. Every time you open the oven door, the heat drops considerably which in turn increases the cook time and can result in a dry bird.

4. Your turkey is done and ready to be removed from the oven when the thickest spot between the leg and the breast reaches 165 degrees. If you decided to stuff your bird, the stuffing should also read 165 degrees.

5. Once your bird is done, tent it loosely with foil and let it rest 15-20 minutes before carving. This allows your turkey to reabsorb the juices and remain moist.

6. When you go to carve your turkey, use the sharpest knife possible. Take the legs and wings off first and you'll have more room to maneuver when you get to the breast.

While these Thanksgiving Day Turkey Tips might not help you with picky eaters or irritable family members, the delicious taste of the bird might. If you have any of your own tips for Thanksgiving, or would like to ask a question about our current Ford Early Bird Lease Offer, don't hesitate to contact us or stop by our dealership!

Easy Thanksgiving Side Dishes

FLUSHING, Mich. - The holidays are rapidly approaching which means tables will be set, and delicious food will be served. To get you in the holiday feast mindset, here are a few easy Thanksgiving side dishes that everyone is sure to love!

1. Green Bean Casserole. You'll need:

    Easy Thanksgiving Side Dishes
  • 1/3 stick butter
  • 1/2 cup disced onions
  • 1/2 cup sliced fresh mushrooms
  • 2 cups sliced green beans
  • 3 cups chicken broth
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 can french-fried onion rings
  • 1 cup grated cheddar
  • Pinch House seasoning ( 1 cup salt, 1/4 cup black pepper, 1/4 cup garlic powder)
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. While it is warming up, you'll want to melt the butter in a large skillet and saute the onions and mushrooms. Boil the green beans in the chicken broth for 10 minutes and then drain. Add the green beans, mushroom soup, onion rings, and House Seasoning to the onion mixture. Stir well and then pour into a greased 1 1/2 quart baking dish. Bake your mixture for 20 minutes, then top the casserole with the cheddar and bake for an additional 10 minutes.

2. Corn Casserole. You'll need:

  • 1 can whole kernel corn, drained
  • 1 can cream-style corn
  • 1 (8 oz.) package corn muffin mix
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 stick butter, melted
  • 1 to 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar
First, you'll need to preheat your oven to 350 degrees. In a large bowl, combine the 2 cans of corn, corn muffin mix, sour cream, and melted butter. Pour into a greased 9 by 13-inch casserole dish and bake for 45 minutes. Remove from oven and top with cheddar, then return to oven for another 5-10 minutes. Let stand for a few minutes, then serve and enjoy!

3. Cranberry Sauce. You'll need:
Easy Thanksgiving Side Dishes
  • 12 oz. bag of fresh or frozen cranberries
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 tbsp. water
  • 1 strip orange or lemon zest
Empty your 12 oz. bag of cranberries into a saucepan, taking 1/2 cup of the bag and putting it into a small bowl. Add your sugar, zest and 2 tbsp. water to the pan and cook over low heat. You'll stir and cook the mixture until the sugar dissolves and the cranberries are soft - about 10 minutes. Increase the heat to medium and cook until the cranberries burst - about 12 minutes. Reduce the heat to low and stir in the cranberries you set aside. Add sugar, salt and pepper to taste and let cool before serving.

4. Buttermilk Biscuits. You'll need:
    Easy Thanksgiving Side Dishes
  • 2 cups self-rising flour (plus another cup for dusting work surface)
  • 1/2 stick butter, cut into small pieces
  • 1 tbsp. butter melted
  • 1/4 cup cream cheese
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk
Preheat your oven to 500 degrees. In a large bowl, combine 2 cups flour, butter pieces, and cream cheese. Use your fingers to cut in the butter and cream cheese until the mixture resembles cottage cheese. Add the buttermilk and mix with your hands or a small rubber spatula. Sprinkle flour over the dough, and then turn dough onto a well-floured surface. Take a rolling pin and roll out the dough into a 1/2 inch thick oval. Using a flour covered biscuit cutter, cut out the biscuits and brush the tops with melted butter. Place pan in the oven, immediately reduce temperature to 450 degrees, and bake for about 16-18 minutes or until biscuits are golden brown.

Hopefully these easy Thanksgiving side dishes have you inspired and excited for the upcoming holiday.
