Ford Motor Company and the State of Michigan Join Forces to Cut Down on Teen Crashes

FLUSHING, Mich. - Accidents happen and in the event of a crash, Ford vehicles come with a variety of standard safety features to protect its occupants. How they will do this is through the Parents Supervised Driving program. Under this program, Ford will pay for teen driving guides to be handed out to parents across the state of Michigan. These guides will provide parents with material to help give their teen driver clear, concise and easily actionable instructions to improve their driving.

As part of our state laws, all teens are required to undergo a supervised driving component in their driver's training. This is the time when an adult (most likely a parent) will ride with the teen driver and make sure that they are driving correctly and obeying all traffic laws. These teen driving guides that Ford will pay for will help the adults during this component so that they can ensure that their teen driver will be informed and responsible when they are driving on their own.

This program is extremely important simply because of the fact that traffic accident rates for 16-19 year old drivers are higher than any other age group. Teenage drivers are known for being risky drivers because of their inexperience on the road. Hopefully with the help of these teen driving guides, young drivers will feel more experienced and not drive as recklessly.
