A Michigan auto theft prevention program wants to remind all of you shoppers that this time of the year attracts auto criminals. These criminals are looking for easy targets for carjackings, break-ins, and other auto-theft crimes. Reports have shown that the number of auto-theft crimes increase during the holiday shopping season. For your safety, we encourage you to consider a few tips to prevent auto theft crimes this holiday season:

1. Stay alert.
Become aware of your surroundings as you are walking to your vehicle. Avoid talking or texting on your cell phone, or attempting to do other mindless tasks while walking. Remember where you park and walk directly to your vehicle.

2. Park in high-traffic, well-lit areas.
Park in an area with high pedestrian traffic or in an area with an attendant. Avoid parking by objects that block your view such as dumpsters, bushes, and large vans or trucks.

3. Place valuables and purchases out of sight.
Whether it be in the trunk or on the floor, place valuable items in places that are not tempting to passing thieves.

4. If you are threatened by a carjacker, GIVE THEM THE CAR.
Give up your vehicle to the carjacker and get out of harms way. Many thieves could have a weapon in their possession, so it is best to give up your vehicle and whatever is inside for your personal safety!

5. Use your best judgement.
Ultimately, using common sense and proper judgment is the best tool. Do not leave your car unlocked, running while unattended, or leave valuable objects in plain site. If you feel uncomfortable walking to your car alone, ask retail security to escort you to your vehicle.

2015 Ford Mustang Goes Topless

FLUSHING, Mich. - The 2015 Ford Mustang was revealed last week and muscle car fans across the world were in awe of the regular fastback coupe. Alongside this grand reveal, the 2015 Ford Mustang went topless!

The 2015 Ford Mustang Convertible has also undergone some serious updates, right along with the fastback. Featuring a wider and lower stance, the 2015 Ford Mustang Convertible has been modernized with smoother lines and a longer nose. Despite receiving an update to become more modern, the pony car still hints at its 50 years of history with a 60's Mustang inspired rear.

A few other updates to the vehicle include a new suspension and more engine options. One engine option that has pony car lovers particularly excited is the all new 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that can produce 305 HP - all while delivering excellent fuel economy. For those not interested in the EcoBoost option, the convertible will also offer a 5.0-liter V8 engine that produces 420 HP and a base V6 option.

As for any changes to the actual top on the 2015 Ford Mustang Convertible, Ford has promised that the power-operated cloth top will lower twice as fast on the new model - something many convertible Mustang drivers are sure to love!

The 2015 Ford Mustang has gone topless and we can't wait for a chance to get behind the wheel! 2015 Ford Mustang

FLUSHING, Mich. - The moment you all have been waiting for.. Ladies and gentleman, the 2015 Ford Mustang has been revealed!

Every aspect of the iconic car’s exterior has been taken and reinvented, resulting in a modern pony car that sits lower and wider than in past years. With smooth lines, a fierce face, and a variety of little details to love, the 2015 Ford Mustang has been reinvented into a modern day stallion. However, despite the complete overhaul, Ford designers have not forgotten the vehicle’s roots. The fastback look in the rear is reminiscent of the 1960’s Mustang, while the admiring and envious looks are the same as they have been for the past 50 years.

 A few quick exterior facts:

• Wheels are out 20mm on each side
• Vehicle is the lightest it's ever been, having just shed 200 lbs.
• Taillights are narrowed
• Headlights are more forward than they've been in recent years
• Vehicle will come in standard colors such as black, white, silver, etc.
• Also come in red, orange, blue, a dark green and a brand new bright yellow
• Cabin has been moved backwards substantially
• Hood is longer
• Rear end features three-dimensional characteristics

The pony car has also received an update to its engine options, as it will now offer the current 3.7-liter V6, a 5.0-liter V8 and a brand new 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder. The EcoBoost is a great addition to the pony car because it now gives drivers the comfort of knowing they are getting great gas mileage without sacrificing the power. While we aren't exactly sure of how many MPG the new Mustang will get, Ford has promised that it will get a project class-leading fuel efficiency.

We are still waiting on a few details about the 2015 Ford Mustang, but we assure you we will keep you posted as information becomes available. Ford Motor Company and the State of Michigan Join Forces to Cut Down on Teen Crashes

FLUSHING, Mich. - Accidents happen and in the event of a crash, Ford vehicles come with a variety of standard safety features to protect its occupants. While Ford can go the extra mile to keep you safe during an accident, there is only so much that can be done to prevent an accident from happening in the first place - especially if the driver is young, reckless, or both. That's why Ford Motor Company and the State of Michigan are joining forces to cut down on teen crashes.

How they will do this is through the Parents Supervised Driving program. Under this program, Ford will pay for teen driving guides to be handed out to parents across the state of Michigan. These guides will provide parents with material to help give their teen driver clear, concise and easily actionable instructions to improve their driving.

As part of our state laws, all teens are required to undergo a supervised driving component in their driver's training. This is the time when an adult (most likely a parent) will ride with the teen driver and make sure that they are driving correctly and obeying all traffic laws. These teen driving guides that Ford will pay for will help the adults during this component so that they can ensure that their teen driver will be informed and responsible when they are driving on their own.

This program is extremely important simply because of the fact that traffic accident rates for 16-19 year old drivers are higher than any other age group. Teenage drivers are known for being risky drivers because of their inexperience on the road. Hopefully with the help of these teen driving guides, young drivers will feel more experienced and not drive as recklessly.

Ford Rolls Out Child Safety Program in Ford Plant Communities

FLUSHING, Mich. - While Ford is typically known for its advanced safety features available in a variety of vehicles in the lineup, Ford is now rolling out a Child Safety Program in Ford Plant Communities to protect children when they are not in the vehicle.

This Child Safety Program comes in the form of inkless fingerprint ID kits (this ID kit stays with the family) that help law enforcement quickly reference children's fingerprints and other identifying information, should they go missing. These kits will be distributed to all UAW-Ford employees which puts the estimated total distribution by Ford at 225,000 kits with 50,000 kits to be donated to Detroit Public Schools.

The best part about this large distribution is that the National Identification Program has promised to donate a kit for every kit purchased by Ford for plant employees. The matching kits will be distributed throughout the communities near Ford manufacturing plants by local schools, churches and law enforcement.

The National Identification Program was created by the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) in 1997 with the goal that they would create a fingerprint record of 20 million children. Since 1997, they have blasted through this goal by collecting fingerprints of over 32 million children, both nationally and internationally. This impressive number has made the National Identification Program the largest child identification effort ever made.

Ford is rolling out a Child Safety Program in Ford plant communities across the country, simply because of the fact that safety is Ford's number one priority - in and out of the vehicle.
